Vanessa Piña
April 11, 2016- April 22, 2016
Vanessa Piña, an Art Department senior, was born and raised in Modesto, California. She is a member of Coker College’s cross country and track and fields teams.
“I am interested in the development of behavior and my work has become my exploration and attempt to go deeper into the effects environments and relationships have on the growth of behavior. There is something realized about oneself when their expressions and emotions are broken down to define one’s behavior, especially when looking at the background of an individual,” Piña states about her work.
Piña uses a variety of mediums that include charcoal, pastel, paint and paper to unite her drawings. Using the common subject matter of dolls, she allows these dolls to be used as a catalyst for visual explorations of behavioral studies.
